Al-Nassr forward Cristiano Ronaldo has been handed a one-match ban by the Saudi Arabian Football Federation (SAFF) for his actions following their Saudi Pro League victory over Al-Shabab.

After Al-Shabab's 3-2 defeat to Al-Nassr in Riyadh, fans of the opposing team chanted "Messi," referring to Ronaldo's longtime rival Lionel Messi.

In response, Ronaldo, the Portugal captain aged 39, cupped his hand to his ear and made a gesture towards the fans.

As a result, the SAFF disciplinary and ethics committee fined Ronaldo 30,000 Saudi Riyals (£6,300) and issued a one-match ban.

According to the committee, Ronaldo has no avenue to appeal against this decision.

Although Ronaldo had opened the scoring from the penalty spot during the match, Al-Shabab managed to equalize twice before Talisca netted an 87th-minute winner.

Ronaldo, who joined Al-Nassr from Manchester United in December 2022, reportedly for the highest football salary in history, has been in prolific form, scoring 20 goals in 22 league appearances this season.

Al-Nassr currently occupies the second position in the league standings, trailing behind Al-Hilal.
