CSA cautions SHS graduates over irresponsible social media posts
25th September 2025
The Cyber Security Authority (CSA) has issued a firm warning to recent senior high school graduates over a growing trend of indecent and irresponsible posts circulating on social media platforms.
In a statement released this week, the Authority raised concerns about a series of viral posts featuring inappropriate and provocative language, including phrases such as “we go scatter them” and references to “snatching people’s husbands.”
The CSA described these posts as not only damaging to personal reputations but also potentially unlawful under Ghana’s cyber laws.
While acknowledging social media as a platform for self-expression and connection, the CSA reminded young people that digital footprints are permanent and can impact their academic, professional, and personal futures.
“Irresponsible content can severely damage one’s academic, career, and professional prospects,” the CSA warned.
The CSA also warned that such behaviour exposes users to cyberbullying, online harassment, grooming, and digital exploitation. In extreme cases, it could breach provisions in the Cybersecurity Act, 2020 (Act 1038) and the Electronic Communications Act, potentially leading to legal consequences.
The Authority is urging all recent graduates to adopt a more thoughtful, respectful, and responsible approach to their online presence.
The CSA stated that social media should be a space to showcase talents, pursue opportunities, promote entrepreneurship, and support personal growth, not a platform for recklessness.
To this end, the CSA pledged to intensify public education on digital responsibility and online safety, in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, civil society organisations, and community leaders.
