There is no place for Daniel Amartey in the Leicester City squad despite an apparent defensive crisis which has seen the Foxes play defensive midfielder Wilfred Ndidi as a center back.

It is abundantly clear Brendan Rodgers does not rate Daniel Amartey and the Ghanaian is on his way out of the Foxes as he failed to play a single game in the Premier League for Leicester City last season.

Following his involvement in most of their pre-season games it appeared Amartey had been handed an olive branch by the Northern Irish coach but that is not the case.

The Foxes, who finished fifth in the top flight last term, have numerous injury concerns, particularly across the defence, as they venture towards The Hawthorns to tackle Slaven Bilic’s Albion in front of the Sky cameras.

Ricardo Pereira, the highly rated right-back, has been missing since he damaged knee ligaments against Aston Villa prior to lockdown and he’s not expected to return until October at the earliest.

In the heart of defence, Jonny Evans who was at Albion from 2015 to 2018  is suspended after being sent off in the final day defeat to Manchester United, and fellow centre half Wes Morgan picked up a hamstring injury in pre-season which has made him extremely doubtful to be fit in time for the Baggies clash.

Defenders Christian Fuchs and Filip Benkovic are also rated as doubts; the former has a groin complaint that he’s recovering from, while Benkovic mysteriously missed the final pre-season clash with Blackburn recently.
