The Referee Department, in Belgium charged with arbitration in professional football, said on Tuesday that referee Jonathan Lardot should have sent off two players on Saturday one of them Ghanaian defender Daniel Opare during the return relegation play-off  to D1A between Seraing and RWDM.

Seresian Daniel Opare should have been sent off to the locker room in the 24th minute following a scissor tackle from behind on Kylian Hazard (RWDM). Opare received a yellow card for this foul which had been confirmed by the intervention of the VAR.

Just before the break, the Molenbeekois Lenny Nangis should also have seen red card for having kicked Georges Mikautadze (Seraing) after losing the ball.

There again, the sanction was only a yellow card. In addition, there was no intervention from the video assistant to the referee.

The match ended 0-0 which allowed Seraing to retain their place in the top flight. The Steelworkers had won the first leg 0-1 in Molenbeek.

After the match, the pitch was invaded by supporters of both clubs and violent incidents provoked by Molenbeek fans forced the police to intervene.
