Asante Kotoko goalkeeper, Danlad Ibrahim has rendered an unqualified apology for his unsporting behaviour towards assistant referee Isaac Asante in his club's 2-1 defeat to Elmina Sharks on Monday.

The referee awarded the host team Elmina Sharks a controversial penalty which was effected by Alhaji Mustapha but Danlad saved the first spot kick but the assistant referee Isaac Asante waved his flag to signal the center referee that the Kotoko goalie moved off his line so the penalty should be retaken.

Danlad, 19, charged at the assistant referee as if he wanted to attack him and had to be restrained by some teammates at the Nduom Stadium.

He has become the club's number one goalie since the departure of Razak Abalora to Sherrif Tiraspol playing in the last six matches.

The youngster has rendered an unqualified apology for his actions against the match officials.

"Yesterday didn’t go as planned despite the resolve and resilienand shown by the entire team. Having taken a deep introspection, I want to apologise for my conduct in the game. It was an overreaction and will learn from this," the statement read.
