Davita School Complex at Feyiase in the Bosomtwe District of Ashanti has emerged Ghana’s most environmentally clean institution.

German group, Jan Binder Foundation, conferred the honour with 5,500 Ghana cedis prize money to the school out of about 600 across the country.

Akadol Standard School and Just Hope Educational Complex came second and third to take home 3, 300 Ghana cedis and 2,200 Ghana cedis, respectively.

The award scheme is a yearly event to recognise private schools for environmental cleanliness.

It was founded in 2012 by Martha Binder, mother of a late staff of Opportunity International Deutschland, Jan Binder, who died in the line of duty in Ghana.

It also seeks to create environmental health consciousness among students in their early stages.

Previous events had focused on Ashanti and Western Regions.

The event is expected to be extended to other regions as part of future plans.

Opportunity International Deutschland co-funded this year's award scheme with Sinapi Aba  Savings and Loans.

Anke Luckja,  Vice President, International Project Coordination for Sinapi Aba says the scheme is to inculcate environmental awareness in the Ghanaian child.

She says clean environment is a heart desire of founder of the foundation.

Chief Operations Officer of Sinapi Aba, Aaron Rex Opoku-Ahene, is optimistic the initiative will strengthen the general fight against filth in the country.

He disclosed, Sinapi Aba has partnered Opportunity International Deutschland for over two decades.

Davita School Complex Proprietor, David Nyame Tawiah who received the award on behalf of the school, lauded Jan Binder Foundation for instituting the award scheme.
