The company at the centre of the controversial training of a number of youth at the Christianborg Castle, Osu De-Eye Group Limited has sued investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni and the Multimedia Group for defamation.

According to the group, the documentary’s claim that it is operating a militia group is slanderous and defamatory and was made without any reasonable or just cause.

The group, is seeking among others, “A declaration that the first defendant’s publication on Joy TV that the plaintiff, the De-Eye Group Limited, is operating a militia group in the heart of the nation with the complicity of the New Patriotic Party administration is slanderous and defamatory of the plaintiff and same was made without any reasonable, just or probable course”.

They are also asking for an injunction against the further airing of the video documentary, as well as an order directed at Multimedia and Manasseh to retract the publication of the documentary and render an unqualified apology.

Manasseh Azure Awuni, in the exposé, said the “pro-government militia group” has been training at the Osu Castle, a former seat of government, since the NPP administration won power two years ago, with the tacit knowledge of President Nana Akufo-Addo and the NPP.

The airing of the documentary on March 8, 2019, coming on the heels of the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence, has tipped calls for the disbandment of all party vigilantes and militia organisations in the country.

In the writ of summons dated 13 March 2019, the group is praying the High Court for the following other reliefs:
