German-born Ghanaian defender Derrick Kohn made a significant impact for Werder Bremen by scoring his maiden goal in a 2-1 away victory against Mainz 05 in the German Bundesliga on Sunday afternoon.

Despite being reduced to ten men, Werder Bremen managed to secure a crucial win in the match-week four clash at the MEWA Arena, with Kohn playing a key role in sealing the victory.

The game began with Bremen taking the lead early, as Marvin Ducksch converted a penalty just eight minutes in. Mainz 05 equalized in the 27th minute through Jae-Sung Lee, setting up a tense second half.

Kohn, who joined Werder Bremen on loan from Galatasaray during the summer transfer window, was introduced in the 67th minute, replacing Felix Agu.

His contribution was immediate, as he scored a brilliant goal to restore Bremen's lead, ensuring the away side claimed all three points.

The defender's goal not only marked his first for the club but also provided a morale boost for Bremen, who continue their Bundesliga campaign with renewed confidence after this hard-fought victory.
