Cynthia Kwabi showed nerves of steel as she recovered from a 0-2 game deficit to overcome her ferocious opponent, Eva Adom-Amankwaa to win the 2021 Grandmasters Championship in a five-game thriller.

Down by two games, and trailing 3-7 in the third game, Cynthia Kwabi won 8 consecutive points to win the game at 11-7. Kwabi then went ahead to win the next two games and eventually won the match at 3-2, much to the dismay of her opponent Eva Adom-Amankwaa, who seemed to be at a loss as to how to get back into the game.

Cynthia Kwabi was overwhelmed by her own performance;

*”I am very excited about winning the Grandmasters 2021 Championship because I really trained for this tournament. I was confident I would get to the final. I did not stress myself much at the group stage in order to save my energy for the semi finals and then the finals”*. Cynthia Kwabi.

Sharing her thoughts on her comeback from 2 sets down, Cynthia Kwabi had this to say;

*"I felt very bad going down by two games and I said to myself I should not disgrace myself by going down 0-3, but I should try and win one out of the 3. That motivated me. Also, the coaching by my team mates Derek Abrefa and Emmanuel Commey brought me back into the game. I then realized I could turn the game to 3-2 in my favor than initially losing 1-3”* Cynthia Kwabi.

Cynthia Kwabi is very confident of the future.

*”Everyone should expect the best from me . My goal is to qualify for and make a mark at the Commonwealth Games and I hope the Ghana Table Tennis Association will give me the opportunity to justify myself and I believe I will qualify"*
Cynthia Kwabi
