In a concerning incident, WO1 Daniel Anderson, the physiotherapist of a Division Two Club Dolphins FC in the Western Region, has been charged with assault after allegedly headbutting an Assistant Referee during a league match between his club and Bis Paradise.

The incident occurred on March 29, 2024, when Assistant Referee Francis Ankrah collapsed after reportedly being attacked by WO1 Daniel Anderson following a goal conceded by Dolphins FC, the club for which Anderson works.

Ankrah was promptly taken to the Effia Nkwanta Hospital for treatment and later discharged. The matter was reported to the Police in the Western Region, leading to Anderson's apprehension and subsequent charging.

After being cautioned, Anderson was released on bail and has been cooperating with the Western Regional Police in ongoing investigations, along with Assistant Referee Francis Ankrah and other witnesses.

The Western Regional Football Association has condemned Anderson's actions and announced plans to take disciplinary action against him.

The case has also been referred to the Office of the Attorney General and Minister of Justice for further advice on the appropriate legal steps to be taken.

In addition, the Western Regional Naval Command, where Anderson serves, has stated its intention to subject him to disciplinary measures.

The Safety and Security Committee of the Ghana Football Association has expressed its commitment to addressing violence at football matches.

They are closely monitoring developments in this case and continue their efforts to eliminate hooliganism from Ghanaian football.
