NDC’s former Greater Accra Regional Chairman, Joseph Ade Coker has lashed out at a leading member of the party, Dr Benjamin Kunbour over his recent call backing a group demanding the party leadership to provide the grassroots and Ghanaians in general with the 2020 election collated results in the possession of party .

A group associated with the party has demanded that leadership of the party come clear on the number of votes the party garnered in the 2020 elections, following the party's inability to  produce such documents in court during the election petition hearing.

The NDC which maintains it has the collated numbers of the electoral results is yet to respond to the group's call, Dr Benjamin Kumbour who believes the call is in the right direction, questioning, if the results were available, why did the not avail it to the court?

“Immediately after the elections, results were coming, we started seeing figures. For the ordinary party member, you said we had won the elections through the figures and collation that the party had done, why is it that those figures did not find their way to the court? Dr Kunbuor questioned.

But this has not gone down well with the party as Mr Coker states such a conduct coming from an experienced politician like the former minister, is unacceptable.

He told Accra-based Joy Fm that such  acts should be expected from anonymous or serial callers and not “an elderly person like Kunbour.”

“Have you seen the NPP coming out to announce to the whole world the numbers they made? No, we have a system. People must respect party structures…People who have had the privilege of being ministers of state, contesting elections will go to the public and behave this way. They have had the privilege of serving high positions so they should know better.

“The interview you were playing on your station has caused a lot of ripples everywhere. But if serial callers were doing that, that is fine but if an elderly person like him wants to know, he knows what to do. Dr Benjamin Kumbour knows what to do. He is just like anybody in the party. Look don’t let us assign titles to everybody. Everybody in the NDC whether you are a footsoldier, we are all the same people. So one person cannot make the party. So we should always think about the collective and not about our individual self, ” he fumed.

He urged Dr Kunbour to reach out to party executives in order to be provided with the documents in question instead of speaking about it in the media.

He also noted that members of the Council of Elders who were present at a three-day retreat at Ho were provided with the 2020 election results – a meeting at which Dr Benjamin Kumbour was absent.

To Mr Ade Coker, Dr Kunbour together with other personalities including Volta Chair of the Council of Elders, Dan Abodapki have failed to ask the party executives for the party’s election results.
