In a stunning display of resilience, Borussia Dortmund secured their first Champions League semi-final in 11 years by staging a remarkable second-half comeback to defeat Atletico Madrid 5-4 on aggregate.

After a narrow 2-1 loss in the first leg in Madrid, Dortmund wasted no time in turning the tie in their favor.

Julian Brandt and Chelsea loanee Ian Maatsen found the net with impressive strikes from tight angles in the first half, giving Dortmund a commanding lead.

However, Atletico Madrid quickly responded, leveling the aggregate score at 3-3 when Mario Hermoso's header deflected off Dortmund defender Mats Hummels shortly after halftime.

The momentum swung back in Atletico's favor when Angel Correa smashed in a rebounded finish from close range, giving them a 4-3 aggregate lead in the 64th minute.

But Dortmund refused to be beaten, as Niclas Fullkrug's looping header from Marcel Sabitzer's cross leveled the score once again after 71 minutes.

In a thrilling climax to the match, Sabitzer himself became the hero, sealing Dortmund's victory with a drilled finish into the bottom corner just three minutes later.

The win sets up a mouthwatering semi-final clash against Paris St-Germain, marking Dortmund's return to the Champions League elite after a lengthy absence.
