The Greater Accra Regional Organiser of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC), Anthony Nukpenu has called on Ghanaians to lay the blame of the death of many on the Madina-Adentan Highway at the doorsteps of the President, Nana Akufo-Addo.

Nukpenu who was speaking on UTV Thursday night, said the President ought to bow his head in shame over the death of many on the highway including students.

According to Nukpenu, the student who died Thursday had gone to register for the gold track system and was heading home when she was killed on the highway.

He claimed that that particular student wouldn’t have found herself on the highway at that time if the single track system was in full force.

“President Akufo-Addo must bow his head in shame for disrupting the country’s education system. I understand she went to register for the gold track and was returning home, but my point is this little wouldn’t have bothered going to register for any gold track if the system was still single track…,” he argued.

The Youth of Adenta mounted a blockade on the Madina highway following the killing of a middle-aged woman Thursday afternoon.

They burnt tyres and threatened motorists as they expressed anger over the carnage on the highway.

The killing of the student on Thursday brought the situation to a head triggering the action of the youth, who had planned a vigil for Friday.

Government have since issued a directive for work on the footbridges to commence within a week.
