Sébastien Desabre, the head coach of DR Congo, expressed confidence and optimism after his team secured their first victory in the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations, defeating Guinea in the quarter-finals.

The Leopards had drawn all four of their previous games against Zambia, Morocco, Tanzania, and Egypt but managed a convincing 3-1 win over Guinea to advance to the semi-finals against hosts Cote d'Ivoire.

Desabre highlighted the significance of the timely victory, stating, "This victory comes at the right time as we are gaining momentum in the competition.

We won, we drew, but did not lose." The French coach believes that his team, which has shown resilience and attacking prowess, is hitting form at the perfect moment.

Expressing belief in their chances of winning the tournament, Desabre remarked, "It would be foolish not to believe in the final victory.

But it will be difficult." He emphasized the attacking strength of DR Congo, with forwards like Bakambu, Banza, and Mayele Fiston, and expressed confidence in their ability to trouble any defense.

With the semi-finals approaching, Desabre and DR Congo are daring to dream of reaching the final and potentially winning the AFCON.

"When you reach the semi-finals, you first want to reach the final. And if you have the chance to reach the final, you want to win it," said Desabre. The coach is determined to ensure that his team leaves no room for regrets as they continue their AFCON campaign.
