Yanick Bolasie has been forced to wait for his chance to really impress Dean Smith but Albert Adomah’s injury in the Second City derby could hand the Everton loanee that opportunity.

Aston Villa grabbed the bragging rights in the Second City derby with a 4-2 victory over their bitter rivals Birmingham City, but it came at a cost.

Albert Adomah was forced off with an injury in the second half, to be replaced by Yannick Bolasie, who has to be patient in his bid to impress Dean Smith since he took over from the man who brought the Everton loanee to the club, Steve Bruce.

Smith has an array of attacking talent at his disposal, but Adomah has not quite hit the heights that made him a crucial part of last season’s run to the play-off final under Bruce.

That means that Bolasie has been knocking at the door and while the aftermath of a 4-2 win over your biggest rivals may not seem the optimum time to change things up, the injury to Adomah may force Smith to do exactly that.

Bolasie must grab that opportunity if it comes his way because Smith’s attacking brand of football married with the pacy frontline Bruce put together is serving Villa very well right now.

The winger would add more unpredictability, if slightly less goal threat than Adomah. Competition for places in this Villa attack is fierce so Bolasie cannot choke if the chance presents itself to impress.
