Lawyer and Media personality, Samson Anyenini has expressed discontent over the disrespect shown former Defence Minister, Dr. Benjamin Kumbour by some members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Dr Benjamin Kunbuor added his voice to calls from a group affiliated to the opposition  NDC that the party leadership should  furnish them with the its collated results of the 2020 election.

There have been concerns by some party members as well as some well meaning Ghanaians as to why the NDC failed to present their collated figures in court.

Dr. Benjamin Kumbour recently commented that even the party’s Council of Elders do not have access to the said figures.

“Immediately after the elections, results were coming, we started seeing figures. For the ordinary party member, you said we had won the elections through the figures and collation that the party had done, why is it that those figures did not find their way to the court,” he quizzed.

He further stated that political accountability is vertical and horizontal and so it behooves on the NDC to have provided the figures they claimed existed, saying that “people don’t know today what exactly are the [NDC’s] collated figures.”

However, his comments has not gone down well with the party and some members believe that there was no need to go for an interview to spell out the problems in the party whiles some have also subjected him to abusive attacks.

But Mr Anyenini in a  Facebook post said the situation is disturbing.

“You have such an elder intellectual storehouse heavyweight and national asset. He expresses small dissent in his usual polite manner and constructively, and matured guys join young people to insult him in the name of political speak? Very very disturbing. Dr. Kunbuor deserves utmost respect if you can’t disagree with him decently", he said.
