Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe supports retention of Otto Addo as Black Stars coach

Former Ghana Football Association (GFA) chairman Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has expressed his support for retaining Otto Addo as head coach of the Black Stars, despite the team's recent struggles in the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The 45-year-old coach has faced mounting pressure following disappointing results, including a loss to Angola and a draw against Niger, culminating in a 2-0 defeat to Sudan that has put Ghana's chances of qualification in jeopardy.
Despite calls for Addo's dismissal, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe believes that firing the former Borussia Dortmund assistant coach will not resolve the team's issues.
Instead, he advocates for providing guidance and support to help Addo succeed.
"I will not say Otto Addo should be dismissed because that has never been the solution.
He rather needs advice," Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe stated in an interview with Asempa FM. He emphasized that Addo's performance will improve with proper direction from the GFA.
"Otto Addo must not be sacked. Keep him and guide him," he added.
As the Black Stars prepare for their final Group F matches against Niger and Angola next month, they need to win both games and rely on Sudan to drop points in their remaining fixtures to keep their qualification hopes alive.
