Former Ghana Football Association Chairman Dr. Nyaho Nyaho-Tamakloe has firmly pledged to resist any attempts to amend the term-limit rules governing the GFA presidency.

There are rising concerns that the current administration, led by Kurt Okraku, may be seeking to revise the GFA statutes to eliminate the two-term limit for presidents.

Under the existing rules, Okraku, who was re-elected for a second term in 2023, would need to step down in 2027.

In a recent interview with Graphic Sports, Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe expressed his strong opposition to any such changes, stating, “I won’t allow anyone to tinker with the GFA statute after the sacrifices I made to ensure that the position is based on merit through elections.”

He highlighted the potential for corruption associated with extended tenures, asserting that, “Positions tend to corrupt people in this country, and when you extend the term, the corruption becomes even worse.” Dr. Nyaho-Tamakloe, who was instrumental in implementing the two-term limit for the FA presidency, emphasized that he will not stand idly by if there are efforts to alter this critical policy.

He concluded with a resolute warning: “If they attempt to change the tenure, I will fight it with all my strength.

It was my recommendation that compelled the FA to adopt this policy.”
