Dreams FC defender Philemon Baffour has departed Ghana to seal a move to lower tier Portuguese side Rio Ave.

The player left Ghana on Wednesday evening to finalize a transfer deal which will be rubber stamped next month when the transfer window opens.

According to reports, the deal will fetch his club Dreams FC some €250,000 when it is concluded.

The defender has divided opinions on the local scene with his constant call ups to the Black Stars only to go and train and not play any competitive game with many labelling him a 'training horse.'

He was part of the triumphant Ghana U-20 squad that won the African U-20 championship in Mauritania in March this year.

Baffour played 19 matches for Dreams FC last season and has featured in 6 matches this term scoring once.

The player has been named in Milovan Rajevac's 30 man provisional squad for the 2021 AFCON tournament in Cameroon next month.

Despite earning a lot of call ups to the national team, the right fullback is yet to make his Ghana debut.
