Scottish Premiership side Dundee Football Club have confirmed the signing of English-Ghanaian striker Emile Acquah from English League Two outfit Barrow AFC on a three-year deal, subject to international clearance. The transfer fee remains undisclosed.
The 24-year-old forward arrives in Scotland after two solid seasons with Barrow, where he netted 16 goals in 89 appearances. Acquah is known for his physical presence, smart movement, and eye for goal, and he capped off last season by winning Barrow’s Goal of the Season award.
Acquah came through the ranks at Southend United, making his League One debut in 2019 after a loan spell with Harlow Town. He went on to feature 48 times for Southend, scoring three goals, before moving to Maidenhead United in the National League.
There, he found his scoring touch, bagging 17 goals in 78 matches across two seasons. His performances earned him a move to Barrow AFC, where he continued to develop in the EFL.
In his first interview as a Dundee player, Acquah expressed his excitement about the move:
“I’m delighted to get it signed. Dundee are a big club and when I heard of the interest, I just wanted to get here. Coming to Scotland is a good new challenge for me… I’ve just played in England so far and I feel like I want something different.”
“I’m a big man but I’m good with the ball at my feet. I like to make runs behind and I’ll always work hard for the team. As a striker, you get judged by goals—and I hope to get plenty this season.”
Dundee manager Tony Docherty is reportedly a long-time admirer of Acquah, who is expected to bring a physical and attacking dimension to the Dark Blues as they look to build on their Premiership status.
Acquah is eligible to represent Ghana at international level, and with consistent performances in Scotland, he could soon appear on the radar of Black Stars selectors.
The move marks a new chapter in Acquah’s career as he steps into Scottish football with the ambition of proving himself at a higher level and pushing for greater recognition.
