It has emerged that the Dunkwa Divisional Police Command in the Upper Denkyira East District of the Central Region, has arrested 52 locals for flouting the law on facemask wearing.

Speaking to the media, the Dunkwa District Police Commander, DSP Edummund Affutu said, the move is to “enforce the directives on the observation of COVID-19 protocols.

Mr. Affutu urged the general public to strictly adhere to the safety protocols as part of measures to curb the spread of the virus in the country.

According to the Ghana Health Service, Ghana is currently recording about 200 new infection daily. It also said the number of patients requiring hospitalization and intensive care is rising.

The President Akufo-Addo in his latest COVID-19 update on Sunday, directed the security agencies to undertake random checks to ensure strict compliance to the safety protocols.

Ghana has a caseload of 58,431 infections with 55,899 recoveries and 358 deaths as of Wednesday.
