The Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has officially launched a new policy mandating full issuance of Direct from Port (DP) stickers and compulsory insurance coverage through the State Insurance Company (SIC) for all DP-registered vehicles. The initiative recorded a highly successful start, according to DVLA Chief Executive Officer, Julius Neequaye Kotey.

Kotey, who visited the port alongside SIC Managing Director James Agyenim-Boateng, said the team observed the implementation process and gathered feedback directly from stakeholders and the public.

“I was personally at the port with James Agyenim-Boateng to inspect the process and gather firsthand feedback, and I can confidently say the response was overwhelmingly positive,” he stated.

He expressed gratitude to all stakeholders involved, commending their commitment and collaboration, which he said were instrumental in the policy’s smooth rollout.

“Your cooperation and dedication were crucial, and I'm optimistic about the positive impact this will have going forward,” Kotey added.

The policy is aimed at enhancing compliance, improving road safety, and ensuring robust insurance coverage for newly imported vehicles. By streamlining the DP registration and insurance process through SIC, the DVLA expects to boost accountability and protect road users.

The Authority also indicated that it will continue to closely monitor and refine the implementation in partnership with SIC and other relevant stakeholders to ensure long-term effectiveness and public satisfaction.
