The New Juaben South Constituency election of the opposition National Democratic Congress(NDC) has been marred by confusion and pockets of agitations over delayed arrival of ballot papers .

The ballot papers which arrived in a taxi cab at about 1:30pm instead of 10am in was fiercely rejected by the angry delegates and some candidates who attempted to attack the taxi driver and to destroy the ballot papers which they say are “machinated” .

It took the timely intervention of armed Police personnel led by the New Juaben Municipal Police Commander to escort the taxi out of the election grounds to the Police station.

The angry delegates and some candidates blamed some Regional Executives for masterminding the delay ostensibly to buy time to enable them manipulate the election.

Officials of the Electoral Commision who were set to supervised the election later packed off from the venue.

Failure of the election to come off today has affected candidates contesting the election.

Some of the candidates say they have spent huge amount to prepare refreshment for the delegates .

Kate Valeria Bedjabeng,who is contesting the Deputy Constituency Women Organizer position however called for calm and appealed to the National executives to intervene to ensure smooth running of the election

The New Juaben South constituency election is being contested by 58 candidates with 1,242 delegates from 138 branches expected to vote.
