British Council, Accra – ‘#theLwordGHANA: Your Future, Your Fortune’ on Wednesday 21st November 6pm-8pm is part of a limited season of innovative, public mentorship discussions for young women and men by EAA Media Productions.

In Ghana, the 21st century market requires market readiness. What does that mean in practice? Employers complain graduates, the youth, so many of us are not market ready. They lack skills and are ill-equipped to effectively contribute to the labour force.

One crucial issue is: JOB vs OPPORTUNITY. Understanding the difference between these two means the difference between being ready for success or falling behind.

#theLwordGHANA ‘s mission is to remind us the ‘L’ is for leadership and to recognize it is not a word – but an approach to our lives; we need to reimagine leadership.

On Wednesday 21st November at British Council Accra from 6pm to 8pm, LUCY QUIST, CEO of Quist Blue Diamond, formerly CEO of Airtel and KATHLEEN ADDY, Deputy Chair of The National Commission for Civic Education will join ESTHER ARMAH for a discussion exploring these crucial issues. Additional contributions will come from the Circle of InfluenceHERs: TAAKA AWORI, Managing Director, Busara Africa and BRIDGET OTOO, Journalist & TV Personality.

This first discussion is for women. The US former First Lady Michelle Obama has just released a new book ‘BECOMING’; and she invites others to answer the phrase ‘I Am Becoming…’ – what does that mean for women in Ghana?

These issues:- market readiness, reimagining our approach to leadership, understanding the difference between job and opportunity and learning lessons from our journeys will be explored at this first #theLwordGHANA.

This innovative project by Esther Armah’s company EAA Media Productions brings leaders from the worlds of business, education and media to explore, exchange and engage on the current ways to win in today’s labour landscape.
