The Eastern Regional Minister, Mr. Seth Kwame Acheampong has paid a working visit to Maagrace Garment Industries Limited to familiarize himself with their operations and to encourage them to do more.

Maagrace Garment Industries Limited (MGIL) is an apparel manufacturing firm that was started in 2003 as a free zones enterprise.

Over the period, it has gone through some metamorphosis, and the government upon the introduction of the 1D1F policy realizing the need supported the company to its present state.

Currently, it has a workforce of over 600 people and they have 10 lines of production.

Speaking to the media after the tour, Hon. Acheampong indicated that he was impressed about the quality of work been delivered to their clients through the application of modern technology, which he stressed was comparable to other factories in the western world.

He was encouraged by the fact that almost all the workers in the industry were Senior High School graduates who have had no training before joining the company.

He urged the security services, thus the Military, the Police Service, the Prisons Service, the Fire Service, the Immigration Service and other public uniform institutions like the Forestry Commission, the Ambulance service, Nurses etc. to call on them for a quality product at a competitive price.

Hon Acheampong lauded the management of the company for initiated plans to liaised with special Schools to get the disabled trained and work in the company adding that this program would go a long way in reducing street begging.

Madam Comfort Owusu Agyeman, the Managing Director of the company expressed her appreciation to the Minister for the visit and the words of encouragement.

She disclosed that currently the company exports not less than Ninety Percent (90%) of its products to the United States of America (USA).
