The Member of Parliament-elect for Buem, Kofi Adams, says pressure should be put on the Electoral Commission for the creation of the Guan constituency.
Speaking on Eyewitness News, Mr. Adams stated that the people in the new constituency should be given the chance to elect a representative for the eighth parliament.
“Pressure must be brought to bear on them to complete the creation of the Guan district so that the electoral commission kicks in to go through the necessary process to get the constituency created,” he stressed.
“In this case, the eighth parliament that will be sworn in on January 7, though it will happen before the creation of this constituency when it so happens, they have to be given the right to be elect a representative which will take part in the proceedings of this eighth parliament that will commence from 7th January.”
The Electoral Commission (EC) announced on Monday, December 7, 2020, that eligible voters in the Guan District would not be able to elect a representative for Parliament pending the creation of their constituency.
The areas within the newly created Guan District are Santrofi, Akpafu, Likpe, and Lolobi.
