The Ministry of Education has presented 4,490 laptops to the Greater Accra Regional Director of Education, Dr Peter Atefuah, for onward presentation to Information and Communications Technology (ICT) teachers in the region.

The laptops are loaded with content, including syllabus, curriculum, among others.

The Deputy Minister  in charge of Pre-tertiary Education, Mr Alex Kyeremeh, who made the presentation, explained that 370 laptops out of the total number would be given to  ICT teachers who also teach Mathematics and Science.

He explained that Maths and Science were specialised areas and that informed the decision of the ministry to include ICT teachers who also teach the two subjects.

Mr Kyeremeh said the teachers who would receive the laptops were among 53,000 who had undergone training in ICT and how to use the computer to teach other subjects.

He said the presentation was part of the school computer programme by the government, with some teachers having been trained in how to use the computers.

Mr Kyeremeh explained that other regional directors had already received the computers for teachers in their regions.

Receiving the items, Dr Atefuah expressed his gratitude to the ministry for the presentation and said he was confident that the laptops would help the teachers undertake research to improve teaching and learning.
