The Inspector General of Police met with the business community today November 28, 2024 to discuss election security arrangements to make the 2024 elections one of the most secure in Ghana's history.

The head of the Election Task Force, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Dr. George Akuffo - Dampare, meeting with members of the business community in the national capital is to discuss security arrangements for the upcoming December 7, elections.

The purpose of the meeting is to ensure robust measures are in place to guarantee peace and stability before, during and after the polls.

As the country relies heavily on imports for essential commodities such as cooking oil, soap and other goods, the business community highlighted the importance of safeguarding the nation's economic activities during the election period.

They commended the security agencies for their ongoing efforts to ensure a credible electoral process and called for more stakeholders engagement to educate voters about maintaining peace.

In his address to the business community, Dr.George Akuffo - Dampare reiterated his ambition to make the 2024 elections one of the secure in Ghana's history, setting an example for democracy in the sub - region and across Africa.

"Your businesses will remain safe and secure during this period, " the IGP assured , emphasizing the critical role of the private sector in the nation's economic stability.

He pledged to uphold fairness and equity in the enforcement of law and order while urging all Ghanaians to conduct themselves responsibly.

"We call on everyone to abide by the law and maintain peace to ensure that Ghana continues to be a beacon of democracy" he stated.

The meeting underscored the collaboration between the security agencies and the business community in fostering a peaceful electoral environment.
