Empoli will reportedly hand star midfielder Afriyie Acquah and seven others a new deal as the club hope to tie down their brightest asserts.

Despite only joining the Blues from Torino in August, the Ghanaian international has already established himself as a key cog in the team.

The length of his current contract which ends in June 2019 is a source of worry for the decision-makers of the Serie A outfit who are already considering making a significant new offer.

The 26-year-old earns around 500 thousand euro per season, an agreement that will be discussed again very soon if he continues to impress.

Acquah was named in the Serie A Team of the Week for matchday one following his jaw-dropping performance for Empoli in their win over Cagliari.
