The President of Ghana, H.E Nana Addo Danquah Akufo-Addo on Sunday 31st January,2020 announced some restrictions that the government has adopeted in order to combat the COVID-19 pandemic.

Ghana has since the beginning of the year seen a rapid rise in the number of positive coronavirus cases prompting the government to tighten hitherto lax restrictions.

During the 23rd address to the nation, the President placed a ban on social gatherings which include funerals, beaches among others.

With football fortunately there was no imposition of any new restrictions as the government had already allowed 25% attendance of spectators.

The President has therefore urged the NSA and the GFA to ensure strict compliance with the 25% rule and the various protocols that have been handed them

“The National Sports Authority (NSA) and the Ghana Football Association should ensure compliance with the twenty-five (25%) capacity rule in our stadia, with spectators respecting the social distancing and wearing of masks” the President stated.
