Former Central Regional Chairman of the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) and social commentator, Mr Allotey Jacobs, has said there is absolutely nothing wrong with President Akufo-Addo involving his family and friends in his government.

According to him, it is something that the leadership of the NDC should have long expected since they would have done so if it were their time.

The NDC in its Moment of Truth Press Conference on Tuesday, accused Nana Akufo-Addo of being the 'most nepotistic leader in the world' for appointing over fifty (50) of his relatives in his administration including the entire nuclear family of his Executive Secretary, Nana Asante Bediatuo.

The National Communications Officer of the party, Sammy Gyamfi, noted that Mr Bediatuo’s mother, father, brother and sister are all part of the Akufo-Addo government.

He also named Ministers such as: Finance Minister - Ken Ofori-Atta, Roads Minister - Mr Amoako Atta and Works and Housing Minister - Mr Samuel Atta Akyea as being some of the immediate family members of the President who are all occupying key positions in his government.

But speaking on Peace FM's flagship morning show, dubbed 'Kokrokoo', and monitored by Ghanaguardian.com, Allotey Jacobs said nepotism did not start from Akufo-Addo's error but during the days of King David.

"..When we talk about nepotism, it is in the Bible. David was surrounded by his brothers and nephews, ..the Commander of Israel Army was a nephew of David. If you go to the line of Moses, Moses' elder brother was a high priest and his sister was a prophetess. There's no politician in this country who will deny his family members employment opportunities after helping him to win power", said Uncle Allotey.

He, however, indicated the only trick that the NDC leadership can use to wrestle power from the NPP is to concentrate on, and interact with the party members at the grassroots.

"I'm charging the NDC national officers at the headquarters to go to the grassroots - constituency and district levels to interact with their party members and edge them on to move from house to house and door to door", he added.
