Several parts of southern Ghana are expected to experience thunderstorms later tonight as largely sunny conditions gradually give way to cloud build-up and rainfall.

Weather forecasts indicate that most areas across the country will remain bright and mostly sunny through the afternoon, with only occasional cloud cover over sections of the southern belt.

However, by late afternoon into the evening, isolated thunderstorms and rain are likely to develop in a number of towns and surrounding communities, including Ho, Koforidua, Akim Oda, Kumasi, Obuasi, Tarkwa and Kete Krachi. Residents in these areas are being advised to stay alert and prepare for possible stormy conditions.

In contrast, the northern parts of the country are expected to remain dry and hazy throughout the period, with visibility estimated to range between 3,000 and 8,000 metres.

Meteorological authorities have also warned that cold conditions may be felt during the night and early morning hours, particularly across the northern and transition zones.

Given the prevailing dryness, especially in the north, the public has been urged to exercise extreme caution when using naked flames to help prevent potential fire outbreaks.
