Ghanaian international striker, Jordan Ayew has fired backing at critics who constantly accuse him of selfishness in his play.

The 25-year old was once again the subject of criticism from Ghanaian football fans following a below par performance in the Black Stars 2-0 win over South Africa at the Cape Coast Stadium on Thursday.

Ayew failed to score despite playing the entire duration of the game neither did he register an assist, leading to the frustration of the disgruntled fans who expressed their displeasure with the Crystal Palace.

But speaking to the media ahead of Ghana's second AFCON 2021 Qualifier against Sao Tome and Principe and Monday, Jordan Ayew reiterated his stance on the criticisms leveled against him.

“Everyone can think what they want", he was reported to have said.

"I’m a striker – some people say I’m not selfish enough. So I try to take enough responsibility.

“If I score everybody will say wonderful, if I don’t they will say I didn’t pass the ball.

“It’s part of the game. The most important thing is the players are giving me confidence to express my self,” Ayew added.

The Black Stars touched down in Sao Tome and Principe on Sunday and held their mandatory training at the national stadium ahead of the game on Monday.
