Former Asante Kotoko captain Danlad Ibrahim is reportedly close to joining a club in Malaysia following the expiration of his contract with the Porcupine Warriors last month.

Danlad, who has represented Ghana at various youth levels, including the U-17, U-20, U-23, and the senior national team, the Black Stars, concluded his eight-year tenure with Asante Kotoko, which he joined in the 2016-17 season.

He played a crucial role in the team's success over the years.

The 21-year-old goalkeeper participated in the 2022 World Cup in Qatar and is one of over 20 players who have left Asante Kotoko recently.

In the past two seasons, Danlad struggled to maintain his position as the first-choice goalkeeper, ultimately losing the spot to Frederick Asare.

Local media reports indicate that Danlad is expected to sign for an undisclosed Malaysian club during the current transfer window. This move aims to strengthen the club's goalkeeping department ahead of the new season.

Danlad's impressive accolades include winning the Ghana Premier League in the 2021-22 season, the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in 2021, and the WAFU Zone B U-20 Tournament in 2020.

He has also received individual honors such as the Golden Glove at both the WAFU Zone B U-20 Tournament in 2020 and the Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in 2021, as well as the Ghana Football Awards Goalkeeper of the Year in 2021.

During the 2023/24 Ghana Premier League season, Danlad made thirteen appearances for Asante Kotoko. His impending move to Malaysia marks the next chapter in his promising career.
