Tanzanian club Young Africans SC is facing a player registration ban from FIFA due to their failure to comply with a compensation ruling in favor of Ghanaian striker Hafiz Konkoni.
The dispute arose after Young Africans terminated Konkoni's contract prematurely without fulfilling their financial obligations.
Konkoni, who is currently with Ethiopian club Bunna FC, had joined Young Africans on a two-year contract from Bechem United in 2023.
However, after just one year, the club terminated his contract and failed to pay the remaining signing-on fees.
They further complicated matters by removing his name from the Tanzania Football Federation (TFF) system without his consent.
In response, Konkoni filed a complaint with FIFA, which ultimately ruled in his favor.
On October 17, 2024, FIFA's decision led to the imposition of a ban that prevents Young Africans from registering new players until they settle the compensation owed to Konkoni.
This case underscores the persistent issue of contract disputes in African football, highlighting FIFA's role in enforcing regulations and protecting players' rights.
