The Former Presiding Member of Akuapem North Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region, Asiedu Ofei has refuted claims suggesting that he is a fraudster.

According to him, it is an attempt by his opposing candidates in the assembly with the idea of peddling untrue stories about him to tarnish his reputation.

He made these remarks in a press conference held at Akropong in his quest to clarify peculiar issues particularly with the accusations of him using fake membership cards of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Speaking at the Press Conference, Mr. Asiedu Ofei said he has been cleared of any wrongdoing after a thorough investigation conducted into the matter.

He explained that ‘’the CID report exonerated me from any bad deeds and as a result, safeguard my hard-earned reputation which I have worked for over the years”.

He affirmed that he acquired a national party card numbered ER1737100060 in September 2017 where the then-acting General Secretary of the NPP signed.

In view of that, he has downplayed assertions that he holds a fake membership card of the NPP as purported to be by some people.

The 2016 general elections independent candidate who placed second after the NPP candidate now Member of Parliament for Akropong constituency, Nana Ama Dokua added that he has followed keenly the development prospects of the area which he had wanted to lead as their MP in 2016.

The aspiring assembly member for Mpeniase electoral area said that, with the ongoing projects in the constituency, it is only fair and prudent for him to throw his support solidly behind the sitting President and MP to continue the good work being done for mother Ghana and Akuapem North.

He then commended Nana Akufo Addo and his NPP government for the implementation of the flagship free SHS program, which has reduced the huge financial burden on him to support the needy and vulnerable in school among other enterprises.
