Kumasi Asante Kotoko are on the verge of signing former Arsenal midfielder, Emmanuel Frimpong according to multiple reports.

Emmanuel Frimpong is said to have conducted his medical examination on Friday with the club as he looks to relaunch his career.

It remains unclear how a player who ended his career abruptly through injury has all of a sudden decided to make a comeback.

The 28 year old defensive midfielder retired from football in 2019 after  persistent injury concerns.

Frimpong, who came through Arsenal's youth academy, made just six appearances during his time at the Emirates Stadium before he joined Barnsley in January 2014.

The Ghanaian last played for Ermis Aradippou in 2017 but has struggled to overcome a knee injury injury in the last five years

Born in Ghana, Frimpong represented England at youth level before switching allegiance and made his solitary appearance for the Black Stars against Sudan in 2013.

Kotoko have already signed Patrick Asamah from Atlanta, Yussif Mubarick and Emmanuel Keyekeh nad they have been linked with former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan and Kwasi Appiah.

The club is preparing for the 2020/2021 Ghana Premier League season and the CAF Champions League.
