Former Member of Parliament for Hohoe, Bernice Adiku Heloo, has passed away.

She died in the early hours of Wednesday, December 25, following a brief illness.

Heloo represented the Hohoe Constituency in the 6th and 7th Parliaments of Ghana’s 4th Republic, serving from January 7, 2013, to January 6, 2021.

In addition to her parliamentary role, she was a prominent advocate for women’s health and empowerment.

She served as the president of the Society for Women and AIDS in Africa and was the founder of Prolink, a Ghanaian non-governmental organization dedicated to social development.

Her passing has left the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Volta Region in mourning.

While regional executives have confirmed the sad news, an official statement is yet to be issued.
