Former Asante Kotoko striker, William Opoku Mensah has hailed the qualities of Hearts of Oak defender Caleb Amankwah, distribing him as  "very smart and good player".

Opoku in an interview with Germany based Topical Radio named Amankwah as the toughest he has faced in the Ghana league.

He said Amankwah gave him tough time during his Aduana Stars days while he was with the Porcupine Warriors.

William Opoku Mensah signed a 2-year deal with Rwandan club, Mukura Victory.

Opoku who now plies trade with Rwandan club, Mukura Victory believes Amankwah has a lot to offer the Phobians.

“Accra Hearts of Oak’s Caleb Amankwaah is my toughest defender l have met in the Ghana Premier League.

“He gave me tough time when ever l met him during his Aduana Stars days.

“He is very smart and good player.” William Opoku Mensah told Topical Radio.

Amankwah, 23 , who has since switched to 20-times Ghana premier league holders Hearts of Oak, is yet to fully settle at the club in the 2020/21 league season.

Since he joined the Phobians he had been used at the holding midfielder role as he can play multiple positions.

He had played for WAFA before joining the Dormaa-based side.

Opoku Mensah however made a brief switch to Liberty Professionals after leaving Asante Kotoko following the expiration of his contract.

Aside from Kotoko and Liberty Professionals, the 25-year-old has played for Karela United.
