The former Member of Parliament for Nantong constituency, Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, has accused President Akufo-Addo of sponsoring and aiding the ‘terror groups’ that were engaged in some violence during elections.

According to him, the president of the Republic cannot deny this allegation as he did not hide it as an opposition leader and now as president.

Speaking on Radio Gold’s ‘Alhaji and Alhaji’ programme, Murtala Mohammed said the safety of the country, in the past few weeks have been ugly, regarding the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election and other security matters in the country.

“Some have described as an attempt by this government to wangle a trick on the people of this country to hide the absolute complicity of the government and its appointees in this mess. After all, the terror groups that are engaged in some of these were terror groups that were formed by Mr. Nana Addo; he didn’t hide it as an opposition leader and he financed and aided them in opposition, and in government he is still financing and aiding them,” he alleged.

He said the country has a moral duty and a responsibility to ensure that the “hugely and messy” situation is cleaned up, reiterating that the clean-up exercise should largely be done by President Akufo-Addo himself.

In other news, President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo would on Thursday, February 21, 2019, be delivering the State of the Nation Address (SONA).

This year’s SONA will be the third by President Akufo-Addo since he assumed office in January 2017.
