Kennedy Agyepong, the founder of Kenpong Football Academy, has announced a significant milestone for his institution: former President John Agyekum Kufuor has agreed to serve as a patron.

Initially invited to be the Board Chairman, President Kufuor opted for the role of patron, expressing his support in a letter dated June 4, 2024.

President Kufuor, in his letter, commended Agyepong, popularly known as Kenpong, for his visionary initiative to establish the academy, which aims to advance football development in Ghana.

"I deem it an honour in deciding to invite me to serve as the Board Chairman of the academy. It will be a privilege to be associated with the Kenpong Football Academy, however, I wish, rather, to serve as a PATRON of the organization," stated President Kufuor.

As a patron, President Kufuor is expected to leverage his extensive experience, influence, and reputation to enhance the image and growth of the Kenpong Football Academy.

Expressing his gratitude, Kennedy Agyepong said, "I am humbled and honoured by President Kufuor's decision to associate with our academy.

His involvement is a huge responsibility for us and will significantly boost our image and recognition. The whole team is committed to upholding the high standards he represents. We cannot let him down."

Agyepong highlighted his efforts to establish international partnerships for the academy, including Memoranda of Understanding with Bastia Football Club of France and Sonderjyske Football Club of Denmark.

He emphasized that President Kufuor's association would further enhance these initiatives.

President Kufuor, a respected statesman, served as Ghana's President from January 2001 to January 2009 and as the Chairperson of the African Union from January 2007 to January 2008.

His career also includes roles as a Minister, Member of Parliament, and legal officer for the City of Kumasi.

The Kenpong Football Academy, based in Winneba, is equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including a world-class pitch, swimming pools, gyms, studios, and hostels for players and staff.

The academy has also enlisted a foreign coach to train young players to meet European and American standards.

With President Kufuor's patronage, the Kenpong Football Academy is poised to reach new heights in nurturing football talent and contributing to the sport's development in Ghana.
