French-born defender Enock Kwateng has been handed a debut call-up to Ghana’s senior national team, the Black Stars.

The talented right-back was handed a late call up ahead of the team’s upcoming double-header International friendlies against Mali and Qatar.

Kwateng, 23, has arrived in the team’s base in Antalya, Turkey to begin training with the four-time Africa Cup of Nations winners.

The French-born Ghanaian has been invited as replacement for Crystal Palace Star Jeffrey Schlupp who won't be available for the two matches due to injuries.

The FC Girondins de Bordeaux man has become the fourth players to earn a late invitation to the team after Caleb Ekuban, Tariqe Fosu and Joseph Paintsil.

He has made only two appearances for his French club in all competitions this season with an accumulated sum of 24 minutes.

Kwateng featured for France at the U16, U17, U18, U19 and U20 level.

He opted the represent Ghana after a fruitful talks with the Ghana FA over his nationality switch.

The Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced earlier this week that John Antwi, Lumor Agbeyenu and Richard Ofori who earned an invitations won't be available due to visa issues.

Also, Jeffrey Schlupp and Kudus Mohammed were ruled out of the crunchy encounters after picking injuries at their clubs.

Ghana will play the Eagles of Mali on Friday, October 09, before taking on 2022 FIFA World Cup host Qatar, three days later, both games will be played in Antalya, Turkey.

The two matches will serve as preparatory games for Head Coach C.K Akonnor and his technical team who have yet to taste competitive football since their appointment in January this year.

The Black Stars will play North African giants Sudan next month in a 2022 Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
