Bibiani GoldStars coach, Frimpong Manso, has called on Black Stars head coach Otto Addo to provide local players Razak Simpson, Isaac Afful, and Emmanuel Antwi with playing time in Ghana's crucial final games of the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
Despite local players having limited opportunities in the Black Stars, Manso believes that with Ghana's chances of qualification looking slim, the final matches against Angola and Niger present an ideal opportunity for these players to showcase their talents.
“Our chances of qualifying for the AFCON is about 10 percent, so I think the local players in the squad must be given the chance to prove themselves,” Manso said in an interview with Asempa FM.
“It will be good for the Ghana Premier League, which will motivate other players to work hard.”
The three local players, Simpson, Afful, and Antwi, were named in the squad for the upcoming matches against Angola and Niger.
Manso emphasized that allowing these players to feature could also inspire other domestic-based players to work harder in hopes of future national team call-ups.
The Black Stars will travel to Luanda for their game against Angola on Friday, November 15, before returning home to host Niger at the Accra Sports Stadium on Monday, November 18, in their final AFCON qualifier.
