Samsung was largely successful in keeping information about the Galaxy S8 and Galaxy S8 Plus quiet until January, but since then we know pretty much everything.

And now even one of Samsung’s biggest retail partners is giving the game away…

None other than Target has today smashed through Samsung’s final remnants of secrecy after it published a print ad (picked up by The Coupon Couple) which published both the front and back design of the Galaxy S8 and when you can buy it:

The former is exactly what design leaks had told us to expect: the Galaxy S8 is a dramatic redesign of the Galaxy S7 with very thin bezels to fit in a much larger display. Despite a ludicrously positioned fingerprint reader, this is an exciting new look and one that is likely to be mimicked by Apple later in the year based on initial iPhone 8 image leaks.
Furthermore the small print in the Target ad reveals that customers will be able to pre-order the Galaxy S8 (and presumably the larger Galaxy S8 Plus), from April 2nd. This ties in nicely with Samsung’s confirmed March 29th press conference in which it will unveil the new phones. The phones are subsequently expected to hit stores between April 21st and April 28th.

I contacted Samsung to get a response to the Target ad, but unsurprisingly it declined to comment. There’s no hint that the relationship between these two companies has been damaged by this, but I’m sure Samsung isn’t happy Target has stolen a significant amount of its thunder just days before launch.

2017 looks to be the year many smartphone manufacturers are bringing their a-game. Aside from Samsung’s redesign and Apple’s iPhone grand plans, Google has already confirmed a premium Pixel 2 and a massive third model was recently revealed.

Seeing Apple, Google and Samsung go all out this year will be a clash of titans and it’s brilliant news for consumers.
