The Ghana Enterprises Agency (GEA) has debunked reports suggesting that its Chief Executive Officer, Margaret Ansei, has dismissed some staff following the circulation of an internal memo dated December 3, 2025.

In an official statement released on Monday, December 8, the Agency described the reports as false and misleading, insisting that no member of its permanent workforce has been laid off.

GEA explained that public misinterpretation of the memo created the wrong impression that regular employees had been asked to stop work. According to management, the document referred strictly to District Coordinators who were engaged under time-bound project contracts and not core staff of the Agency.

The Agency clarified that the contracts of these officers, which were valid for one year and subject to renewal, officially expired on August 31, 2025. However, their appointments were extended by an additional two months to allow ongoing projects to continue smoothly.

Management emphasised that contract renewals are not automatic and depend on several factors, including performance, attendance, funding availability, and operational needs.

“The instruction contained in the memo was only to ask contract staff whose agreements had expired, as well as national service personnel who had completed their mandatory service, to stay off-duty temporarily until appropriate renewal or administrative arrangements were finalised,” the statement indicated.

GEA noted that such directives are part of normal administrative procedures aimed at safeguarding accountability and ensuring prudent use of public funds.

The Agency firmly stated that no permanent or mainstream employees were affected by the directive and urged the media and the general public to disregard claims suggesting otherwise.

Management further encouraged journalists to verify information before publication to prevent the spread of misinformation.

GEA concluded by reiterating its commitment to fairness, transparency, and due process in its dealings with all categories of staff, including contract workers and national service personnel whose tenures have lawfully ended.
