Former Ghana International Kevin Prince Boateng  has pledged to lend a hand of support to families of the juvenile footballers who perished tragically in a motor accident some weeks ago at Offinso in the Ashanti Region.

Eight young footballers out of the 24 on board the KIA Pregio mini van  lost their lives when they were on their way to a registration center.

The speeding vehicle reportedly veered off the road and fell into the Offin river killing six of them instantly before two of them later died at the hospital with lots of them sustaining various degrees of injuries.

News of the tragic demise of the youngsters came as a shock to a lot of persons in Ghana and across the world with tributes pouring from FIFA, CAF and lots of national associations and individuals.

Speaking in an interview with JOY FM, the new AC Monza signing wants to help the families of the victims.

"I heard about it and it really made me sad," Boateng told Joy FM on Monday night.

"I first saw it on Social Media and I called a friend to find out if it was true. He told me about it and I felt really really sad because I have kids of my own, one is 12 and one is 6 so it's a big tragedy and it hits me hard," he added.

Four of the dead young footballer have been buried, the other four will also be given a mass burial with government ready to foot the bills.

"Like I said I head it on the news and that is why I am here, I want to help," Boateng added.

"Anything that is necessary, I want to help. I want to get in touch with the families. I want to give them the necessary support to feel free. I know it's hard, and I know how hard it is for parents to bury their children," said the former Ghana Star.

The injured players aged between 12 and 15 have now been discharged and will undergo a restorative seminar from the FA and a medical team from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

Meanwhile, the K.P Boateng on Monday joined newly promoted Serie B side AC Monza.
