The Appeals Committee of the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has upheld the verdict reached by the Elections Committee of the GFA regarding the disqualification of George Afriyie from contesting the 2023 Ghana FA Presidential elections.

On September 7, 2023, the GFA's election committee announced that the former GFA Vice President had been disqualified from the Presidential elections due to anomalies with his filing.

The decision stemmed from irregularities concerning the endorsement of Afriyie's nomination forms. GFA regulations required five qualified members of the GFA to endorse Afriyie's nomination forms. However, it was discovered upon thorough examination that some of these endorsements were made by unqualified individuals.

In particular, Jeffrey Asare of Victory Club Warriors FC, who was a spokesperson for Afriyie's campaign during the last election, was found to have endorsed Afriyie under false pretenses, according to the committee's findings.

As a result of these irregularities and concerns raised by the committee, George Afriyie was disqualified from contesting against the incumbent, Kurt Okraku. This decision has now been upheld by the Appeals Committee.

The decision implies that incumbent Kurt Okraku will run unopposed in the 2023 Ghana Football Association Presidential elections.
