Ghana has received a major boost for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations as key member of the technical staff says he is still available for the Black Stars despite signing a deal to be the head coach of American side Rayo OKC, GHANAsoccernet.com can exclusively reveal.

Video analyst of the Black Stars Gerard Nus took over the side which plays in the second tier league NASL two weeks ago.

This sparked fears that his absence could hurt the chances of Ghana clinching the much needed title for the first time since 1982.

However, the Spanish trainer has written to Ghana's leading football news outfit to state that he is still available to work for the Black Stars despite the American deal.

"@Ghanasoccernet I did not quit Black Stars. Gerard Nus still available for Avram Grant and Ghana National Team," Nus wrote to Ghanasoccernet.com on Twitter.
The Spanish, who is also a qualified coach, has been a key figure in Ghana's recent successes helping them to reach the final of the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations.

Nus was appointed following the exit of coach Alen Marcina who was asked to stepped down from his position.

Nus joins Rayo OKC from Spanish side Rayo Vallecano de Madrid, which owns a majority stake in the Oklahoma-based club.

In addition to serving as the Assistant Technical Director for Rayo Vallecano de Madrid and is currently a member of the Ghana Men’s National Team staff under veteran manager Avram Grant.

Nus made his NASL coaching debut in their 1-1 draw with defending champions New York Cosmos last week.
