Germany U20 coach Hannes Wolf expressed sympathy for Ghana’s Black Satellites following his side's dominant 5-0 victory over the former world champions in a one-sided international friendly.

The match, part of the Black Satellites' preparations for the upcoming WAFU Zone B U20 Championship in Togo, saw Germany take control early, with Ilyas Ansah, a player of Ghanaian descent, scoring twice.

Wolf praised his team’s performance but acknowledged that Ghana struggled, particularly due to the wet conditions and lack of proper footwear, with several players not equipped with studded boots, making it difficult to maintain their footing.

"It was a very successful conclusion to the event," said Wolf. "We had good games against Poland, and today we were outstanding. Unfortunately, Ghana was overwhelmed.

I felt a little sorry for them because of the wet pitch—they didn’t have studs on, so it was slippery for them. But our play, especially in the first half, was remarkable. It was a really good performance."

The Black Satellites, preparing for the WAFU Zone B U20 Championship, have been drawn in Group A alongside host Togo, Benin, and Niger.

Ghana, the 2021 Africa U20 champions, will aim to qualify for the 2025 Africa U20 Cup of Nations by finishing as one of the top two teams in the tournament.
