GES sets September 17 for start of 2025 BECE school placement
28th August 2025
The Ghana Education Service (GES) has announced that the 2025 nationwide school placement exercise will begin on Wednesday, September 17, following the release of the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) results.
At a press briefing on Wednesday, August 27, GES Director-General, Professor Ernest Kofi Davis, said that successful candidates are expected to report to their assigned senior high schools between October 18 and 20.
To improve accuracy and transparency, the Computerised School Selection and Placement System (CSSPS) will introduce a review window from September 1 to 8. During this period, candidates can verify key details like gender, school codes, and programme codes at www.csses.gov.gh. An explainer video will also be made available to guide parents and guardians.
“To reduce errors associated with school placement, candidates will have the opportunity to review the entries they have made—gender, school code, programme code—online at www.csses.gov.gh."
"This will be supported by an explainer video to guide parents. The review exercise begins on September 1 and ends on September 8,” Professor Davis said.
Professor Davis warned parents and candidates against paying money to agents or middlemen to influence placements, stressing that selection is based strictly on merit.
“The actual placement exercise will commence on September 17. Students are expected to report to campus and begin their studies between October 18 and 20. Nobody should pay anyone for placement,” he warned.
